24 November–3 December 2027 | Revised 10-day itinerary
This combines the northern battlefield days, puts Dougga first thing the following morning, and keeps Day 10 for departure only. To allow time for Tunis and the American Cemetery on Day 9, the northbound return is split between Days 8 and 9.
Meet the team at Tunis–Carthage Airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending on arrival times, enjoy an introductory visit before the Operation Torch briefing and welcome dinner.
Combine Chouigui, Tebourba and the Medjez sector with Sidi Nsir. Explore the early American armoured encounters, the stalled Allied advance and the British defence against German armour. Include the Depienne–Oudna airborne story and the later advance towards Bizerte in the interpretation.
Finish with a transfer to accommodation near Dougga, ready for the archaeological visit the next morning. This will be a full day of focused stops rather than extended walks at every site.
Begin the morning at Dougga, exploring its temples, theatre and ancient streets. Continue south to Sbeitla and the remains of Roman Sufetula. Use the journey to introduce the SAS, Free French raiders and LRDG’s role in the campaign.
Trace the German counterattack through the central battlefields. Examine isolated American positions, the armoured response and the withdrawal towards Kasserine, focusing on deployment, communications and command decisions.
Explore the passes and the wider Allied defensive response. Study how terrain, artillery, armour and infantry shaped the fighting—and the lessons that changed American leadership and organisation.
The first dedicated Ranger day follows Darby’s 1st Ranger Battalion’s night raid at Sened Station. Reconstruct the approach, preparation and use of surprise before continuing through Gafsa to place the action within the American advance.
Follow the Rangers’ seizure of El Guettar and their mountain approach to Djebel el Ank. Examine the subsequent defence against the 10th Panzer Division, distinguishing the Ranger actions from the infantry, artillery and tank-destroyer battle.
After the battlefield programme, transfer towards Gabès to position the group for the following morning.
Start early with the Mareth Line and Gabès, examining the defensive system and the British and Commonwealth outflanking operation. Then travel north to El Jem’s Roman amphitheatre before continuing to accommodation in the Sousse area.
This is a substantial travel day, so the battlefield and heritage visits will need carefully planned timings.
Begin with a short Sousse medina visit, then continue to Tunis and Carthage. Make a remembrance visit to the North Africa American Cemetery, honouring those who died in the campaign.
Allow time for Tunis before a closing dinner and reflection on the expedition. The cemetery visit will take priority within its opening hours.
Breakfast and transfers to Tunis–Carthage Airport.
